TCC Africa, in collaboration with the OWSD Kenya Chapter, organized a training session on October 18, 2023, focusing on "Supervisor and Scholarly Communication Training." The joint effort aimed to provide crucial guidance and support to Early Career Supervisors for Postgraduate Students, fostering effective mentorship and advancing scholarly communication within the academic community. This collaborative initiative reflects the shared commitment of TCC Africa and OWSD Kenya to empower professionals and contribute to the development of a vibrant and inclusive research ecosystem.
The sessions, run by academic professionals, covered a variety of subjects. Dr. Joyce Wangari focused on personal management, providing insights into effective time management and strategies for maintaining mental health. Dr. Virginia Gichuru further discussed the supervisor's role in managing students, including mentorship, research proposal development, and overseeing the entire Ph.D. program. The session also highlighted effective research discovery, critical thinking, academic publishing, and strategies for supporting researchers' visibility. Professor Verdiana Masanja led the discourse on the different dynamics of PhD supervision.
