In commemorating the 20th anniversary of the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), the Training Centre in Communications (TCC Africa) orchestrated a virtual event titled "DOAJ at 20: Trusted." The webinar, held on the 7th of December 2023 via the Zoom virtual platform, centered around critical insights and discussions on trust in scholarly communication and Open Access. Serving as the moderator for this thought-provoking session was the Executive Director of TCC Africa, Joy Owango. Distinguished speakers included Judith Barnsby, Head of Editorial at DOAJ, Ivan Oransky, Editor of Spectrum, as well as Ixchel Faniel and Dr. Haseeb Irfanullah, both esteemed scientific researchers. Each speaker provided valuable perspectives on the essence of trust and explored the various facets of mistrust prevalent in scholarly communications.

The Directory of Open Access Journals is a website that hosts a community-curated list of open access journals, maintained by Infrastructure Services for Open Access. It was launched in 2003 with 300 open-access journals.
